Wedding Vendor Booked Her Trip For My Wedding... I Never Even Hired Her.

Okay i need someone to tell me if i’m actually losing it, because this whole thing feels insane and i’m stressed.

Back in January, i was looking for a wedding content creator, you know one of those people who follow you around on your wedding day filming everything on their phone so you can post cute reels the next day.

I put out a feeler on instagram and this girl dm’d me. She was super was friendly, professional-ish and her page looked good.

We got on a quick call, I told her our date, it was in Hawaii. She said she was dying to shoot a destination wedding.

We talked about what she’d include, turnaround time, pricing, all that.

but here’s the thing…I never actually booked her! 

Like we didn’t sign anything, I didn’t send a deposit, there was no confirmation. 

I even followed up with her a week later and said “hey! still weighing a few options i’ll let you know!” and she liked the message.

Now, the wedding is a few weeks away and I ended up going with someone else local to Hawaii. It just felt easier and it was cheaper.

And then I get this message from her saying “Just touching base before the trip! can’t wait to create magic with you!! I’ve got my flight booked and hotel locked in! Just let me know what time you want me to show up for rehearsal”

WTF??

I never hired this woman! She literally booked a flight + hotel???

So i didn’t respond because what do you even say to that?

Then she sends another one, and another one… So I eventually respond politely saying I never booked.

A day goes by and I wake up to a message:

“Wow. I literally booked a flight and a hotel because you said the date and we talked like it was happening. I held that weekend for MONTHS and turned down other jobs. You could’ve at least had the decency to say no. You owe me for what I spent, this is actually ridiculous.”

Excuse me WHAT???

I never confirmed anything! No contract, no payment, nothing!!

And now she wants me to pay her back?? For a flight and hotel for my wedding that i didn’t even invite her to??

Did she think manifesting it hard enough would make it real?

Am i supposed to feel bad? I get we had a good talk about the wedding and stuff but how is it my fault that she jumped the gun?

and now i’m scared to post anything from the wedding in case she goes full tiktok callout mode…

Am I in the wrong or??

This is not on you. Nothing was officially signed so that’s on her. She assumed and got burned. Turning down other work or booking a trip was her risk not your responsibility. If she tries to blast you online she’ll just make herself look unprofessional. Post your wedding pics you’re fine.
