Our Wedding Was Their Catering Consultation
When your “guests” start planning their own event mid-reception.

Our Wedding Was Their Catering Consultation.
Our wedding was smooth.
Clean.
Happy tears. Perfect weather. No one blacked out before dessert.
Success.
Or so we thought.
A few days after the wedding, we get a text:
“Hey… did you know Karen and Michael were doing a walkthrough during your reception?”
Come again?
A couple we invited out of social obligation (don’t lie, we all have those), are getting married at the same venue in a few months.
Weird coincidence.
Or… not?
Apparently, they left their table during dinner and went on a private venue tour.
With the coordinator.
While we were literally in the middle of our reception.
They wandered around the ballroom talking layout, taking pics of the lighting, asking questions about the setup.
I’m told they were even chatting with the planner about furniture swaps.
Meanwhile?
Their tablemates just sat there.
Watching them treat our wedding like a showroom.
And then, I swear I am not making this up
They came back to their table with someone from catering.
And started going over their own wedding menu.
Like. Out loud. At the table.
Discussing timing. Options. Serving styles.
While everyone else is still waiting for their entrees.
Our reception… was their tasting.
And somehow no one thought to say, “Hey. Maybe not right now.”
We didn’t notice at the time.
But once we heard about it, we couldn’t un-hear it.
They came to our wedding and treated it like a dry run for their own.
I don’t even know who I’d be more annoyed with the couple? The coordinator?
Or the fact that they had the audacity to pull this off without anyone stopping them.
Is this a thing people actually do?
Hijack someone else’s wedding as a planning appointment?
Like I get people talk and everyone will have their opinions.
But please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks this is completely insane.
I need some opinions please!!

Wait WHAT?? That is next-level tacky. I’d be livid. And the coordinator let it happen?? Absolutely not. Curious what to actually do in this situation…?
How would you handle this situation? |
