Married on Saturday. Scammed by Sunday.
When your dream day meets a $3,200 photography nightmare.

Married on Saturday. Scammed by Sunday.
So, you're planning your dream day. Everything’s booked, and anticipation is high.
But then... the unexpected guest arrives…
Let’s call her Mandy.
Mandy was recommended by our venue in sunny California. We loved her photography online. Booked her a year out and splurged $3,200 for a 6-hour package with two photographers.
No contract. Note to self: don't skip that step.
Fast forward to two weeks before the big day. Details locked. timeline sent.
Mandy was confident, even with our odd-sized bridal party. Pictures by the lake for a rustic vibe, then off to a nearby bar.
All set? Not quite.
Wedding day arrives. Mandy was supposed to start at the groom’s house. She shows up at 1 PM, 15 minutes late. And at my place instead. 'Moving house stress,' she mumbled. Great. Groomsmen wondering where she is by 1:15.
Finally, Mandy arrives there at 1:30, throwing the entire schedule off. We also had a videographer waiting at the Grooms house who needed to sync with her.
By this point i’m the definition of frustrated and the days just getting started.
Skipping ahead, after the vows we took more pictures. Mandy was less 'say cheese' and more drill sergeant.
Guests mentioned how her instructions sounded like a boot camp. And hey, I paid for two photographers, yet my bridesmaid was corralling people for group shots, while the other photographer is getting a little too friendly with my cousin!
During our session, Mandy complained about bugs and seemed to rely on our videographer for inspiration.
Professionalism?
MIA.
She kept pressuring us to drive to the beach for shots, and completely ignored the memo about the lake and bar.
Our bad for assuming she read it.
Our day was tainted. Stress levels peaked. We didn't see a single sneak peek within days after. Sent her an email two months post-wedding—radio silence.
Refund or not, the experience fell short.
Do you think asking for a refund is warranted? What should I do?

What a nightmare… You're totally right to ask for a refund. That's a huge disruption for an already stressful day. I would definitely follow up until you get a response. Maybe even small claims court if it comes to that?
