How to Get Away with Murder on Your Wedding Night.
We didn’t just tie the knot, we tied up loose ends.

How to Get Away with Murder on Your Wedding Night.
I’m not saying we killed anyone.
But if you were there that night, you’d understand why people still bring it up in hushed voices like it was a crime scene.
We threw a murder mystery wedding.
Not a classy little “inspired by” dinner party.
No. A full blown, clue leaving, character assuming, murder solving wedding.
Me and my husband? We were drama kids.
Theatre nerds.
We fell in love over bad accents and blackout scenes.
So yeah, we weren’t gonna do a cookie cutter wedding.
We wanted theatrics. Suspense. Suspicion.
Here’s how it worked:
Every guest got a sealed envelope with their character name, background, and motive during cocktail hour.
Our officiant pronounced us married… and then immediately fake died on the spot. Like collapsed, gasped, the whole thing.
The reception was an active crime scene (yep, yellow tape around the dance floor).
Our centerpieces were literal evidence: torn love letters, vials of fake poison, burned passports.
The seating chart? Based on suspect connections.
And our first dance? We slow danced while two of our guests argued in character about who was the killer [we planned it, obviously and it was dramatic].
Instead of a guestbook, we had a confessional video booth where people gave their theories.
My mom’s friend ended up being weirdly good at it. She left a confessional so convincing we rewatched it three times.
And my cousin? She got super into it and wouldn’t stop interrogating people through dinner.
It was weird. It was extra.
And it was the most fun I’ve ever had.
No garter toss. No awkward speeches.
Just cocktails, clues, and finger foods that were to die for. (pun very much intended)
So no, we didn’t follow the rules. But we made the night ours. We committed to the bit. We set the scene. We buried tradition.
And by the end of it?
We got away with murder.

Why am i jealous of a wedding i wasn’t even invited to?? I would’ve SLAYED that confessional booth.
Is this the kind of wedding you’d actually do? |
